Logistics management can be defined as the development and administration of physical flow management through the flow of associated information. Its use today in companies increasingly generates not only non-exclusive logistics collaboration, but also inter-organisational logistics collaboration, involving the company, its suppliers and its clients on an increasingly international geographic scale. Logistics management is becoming “Supply Chain Management”.
Logistics management and “Supply Chain Management” have the triple objective of cost effectiveness, improvement in services rendered and value creation.
Since logistics is an intermediary discipline at the crossroads between management science, industrial economy or even cognitive science and financial matters, the laboratory maintains a political interdisplinarity to increase awareness in the field.
Logistics is the heart of research and since 1999 has involved a wide range of inter-related know-how. The laboratory has therefore chosen specialist researchers from other disciplines such as marketing, human resources, transport economy and law.
The laboratory’s working method develops and diversifies thanks to the double dynamic of rigorous conceptual approach and continued awareness of the requirements of innovative managerial practise in the field.
This is how close, interactive and cultural collaboration between the members of the laboratory and various university and professional interlocutors has resulted in the recent analyses on « Supply Chain Management » as a means of organisation and strategic planning.
For more than 30 years, thanks to its contact with professional institutional organisations, local industrial entities and major national and international groups, CRET-LOG has extended, modified and sharpened its expertise in order to link Supply Chain management to the complex reality of the organisations.
